  • For ye' piano lovers...

I just found the most gooorgeous piece by Chopin.  I love Chopin, and I've played a lot of his stuff (okay, not as much as I would like *g*), and I was thrilled when I realized this song was by him.

Anyway, it's Sonata No. 2, Opus 35, in B minor ...called "Grave -- Doppio movimento".  It's a little over 8 minutes long.
I'm looking for a link so you can listen to it...
*Edit*  Um... well here's one on YouTube: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=FEIbrwZMRD8

Anyway, it's a song I'm working toward.  I still have a lot to learn before I'm ready to *officially* learn it   But if I can get a hold of the music, I might work on it on the side just for fun.*g*

While on the topic of piano ...a few weeks ago I had the IMTA piano competition, and won for my level (E) -- and I'm going to State, which is in March.
Basically, there's six levels, A through F, progressing from easy to hard... (you know:)
If you win your level for IMTA, and you decide to compete again the following year, you have to play at the next highest level (so for me, I would have to play F!).  Anyway, so I'm reeeally excited to start F pieces..

  • So I was looking at these photos of Rebekah:
    http://www.designerimagesphotography.com/Gallery/RWittenberg/index.html

And Moriah came down and was like, "why is Rebekah on the internet?"
Me:  "Um... didn't you know, she's famous!"
    Moriah:  "Really? ...why?"
Me:  "They're going to use her for Pirates of the Caribbean 4, as Will and Elizabeth's baby."
Zach:  "She the only baby in the world that looks like Will Turner AND and a fat Elizabeth."
    Moriah:  "Really? ...wooow."

So I really didn't think Moriah was going to buy it, she usually isn't very gullible, but I guess that because Zach backed me up and that Rebekah's pictures were, in fact, on the internet, it did the trick.

I dunno... what do you think?

    Okay, okay... neeevermind. ^_^

  • Ahhhhhh!!!

The load for this week... is so unbelievably heavy!  Three exams, plus the normal weight in homework in my other classes... plus countless biology quizzes I have to catch up on... and I have a swim meet on Saturday, followed by a family reunion afterwards.

Last night was a very late night... or a very early morning *cough*  And I didn't get a whole lot of sleep, and I want to take a nap, but I can't because I have to study!

...someone send me some chocolate, quick!

  • Year 2007 Write-Up

(I've just noticed that I haven't said anything since my post about Zach.  He's doing very well, and has slowly but surely started running again.  Thanks so much for your prayers!)

Okay, so I know I'm writing this a day into the new year, but pretend it's still last year and bear with me. :D

    1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before? Cross country, and the Nutcracker! <3

    2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I forgot them by summer, soooo no. :) I think one of them was about Cross Country.. but I can't remember. Anyway, I made *another* one for this coming Cross Country season: to run on Varsity OR get under 17 minutes.

    3. Did anyone close to you give birth? My mom.

    4. Did anyone close to you die? No.

    5. What countries did you visit? We stayed in the states this year.

    6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007? Um, lot's of things.. responsibility, helpfulness.. things more on that line. ^_^

    7. What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? The race at Central -- the second meet of the season, when I got 20:13. My dad's goal for me had been to get into the 20s by the end of the *season*.

    8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Oh wow.. I think moving up from training with JV to training with Varsity was a big thing for me. Like I said in #7, our goal had been to get in the 20s, so this was above and beyond what we had expected.

    9. What was your biggest failure? I tend to procrastinate a lot (especially with biology, hehe ^_^). But there are sooo many others.

    10. Did you suffer illness or injury? I got bad shin-splints which was the main reason why I had to stop running a week early, right before State.

    11. What was the best thing you bought? I don't know..

    14. Where did most of your money go? I put what I earn in the bank, to save up for college.

    15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? The birth of Rebekah, Cross Country, the Nutcracker, our PotC ballet routine for my pointe class, and my aunt having her *first* baby after several miscarriages (any day now..).

    16. What song will always remind you of 2007? How Far We've Come, by Matchbox Twenty. It was on the XC slideshow DVD thing. And Umbrella was *the* song during summer swim team. ;)

Compared to this time last year, are you:

    17. Thinner or fatter? Thinner -- from all the running. And guess what? You can eat aaaall you want, and you'll still look great because you can burn it off at practice! ;D

    18. Richer or poorer? Neither. I don't have an allowance, and I didn't have a job this year, nor did I take any out. So I don't think the balance has changed much. :)

    19. What do you wish you'd done more of? I wish I had run more during the summer, so that I was ready to run well during the season right off the bat. Instead, a good part of the season was spent in *getting* in shape. :-/

    20. What do you wish you'd done less of? Procrastinating. Hehe, I think I say the same thing every year. :)

    21. How will you be spending Christmas? With family.

    22. Did you fall in love in 2007? Yes, with running.

    24. What was your favorite TV program? I had always looked forward to House.. and Everyone Loves Raymond, but I don't watch a lot of TV.

    25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? Nope.

    26. What was the best book you read? Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow.

    27. What was your greatest musical discovery? I found a lot of new artists that I reeeally like.

    28. What did you want and get? An iPod stereo system.

    29. What did you want and not get? A picture phone. :)

    30. What was your favorite film of this year? Mmm, Pirates 3, Harry Potter 5, High School Musical 2.. I didn't go to a lot of movies this year though.

    31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? Fourteen. I had Driver's Ed in the morning, and then I got my permit in the afternoon, and *then* I went shopping with my mom afterwards, followed by a yummy cookie cake in the evening. ;P

    32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Winning a critical race. You don't know how much I keep going back to it... I've learned from it, and it will help me be a stronger runner in the future.

    33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007? Well, it changed during the year. Until school started up again, I wore a lot of sweat pants and those Pella Christian shirts. :) And then after school started I kinda changed it up a little: anything that's cute and comfortable that can be mixed and matched with other things. :P I don't always stick to it though.. sometimes I'm pretty lazy and throw on whatever I can find.

    34. What kept you sane? Too late, I'm insane already. :P

    35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Johnny Depp! *siiigh*

    36. What political issue stirred you the most? Abortion and homosexuality. *gag*

    37. Who did you miss? Brooke Christopherson -- she moved to Colorado.

    38. Who was the best new person you met? I couldn't name *one* specific person, I met *lot's* of equally amazing people, both on my online school, and at the public school.

    39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007. Anyone can be a runner... :P

    40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
If I heard the words correctly,

    "Harder, better, faster, stronger.." :P
    ~Stronger, Kanye West

  • Zach broke his arm..

Zach broke his arm again today.
This would be the third time, (he broke his arm during the summer, and once before that a couple years ago).
He's at the hospital now, and he'll have surgery to get permanent pins put in his arm.

It happened during basketball practice when he was diving for a ball, and it just snapped: 45 degree angle.. *shudder*

Anyway, just keep him in your prayers..

  • Lit. Class

Ooooh.  English Lit was super interesting today. *g*

Not that it isn't always, but today was just...  Macbeth makes for great discussion.  I'm going to re-read it again.
  • I feel ever so much better this week.  I've been getting to sleep at 12, or around that...  which is a pretty good time for me, considering lasts week's (ehm.. not last week's.. the week before's) nightmare of getting to bed at 1 - 2:30 and waking up at 6...  Uuuugh!

That's all over now, and life is back to normal.

    On another note..
Swim team's been an absolute blast from the start!  Running has helped so much -- endurance, strength, and all that good stuff.
I do miss running though.  Like ..way more than I thought I would.  I'm hoping to start it up again within the next week or so.
I haven't been able to run, if some of y'all didn't know, because of a splints in both shins. :-/  And it's taken them a looong time to heal, so I'm excited to get back at it!

Dance is going well too.  I *finally* got my new pointe shoes sown (I always take forever to sew them unless someone does it for me or until my old ones are so painful to wear that my toes are literally bleeding :).  I ordered a different brand of pointe shoes this time, switching from Capezio, Glisse' to Bloch, European Balance (like you peeps care, but oh well ).  I *love* them! XD
And being a flower in the Nutcracker is sooo much fun.  The teacher picked me and three other girls, at "random", for a separate dance in the finale.  Random?  Yeah right..  The other three girls were definitely at the top of the class.
    which makes me excited!

Oooh, whoops!  I got five minutes to shower and get dressed before English Lit. class.  We read Macbeth (<3) this week.

  • I'm a walking zombie...

    My brain is fried.
I've got smoke coming from my ears.
My eyeballs are shriveled up (or so I imagine ).
I need sleep ...like nothing else.

And I'm putting the blame on school overload.

So I was up veeery late last night (past 2) finishing up Geometry proofs for class this morning, and I had set my alarm clock so I would wake up at 6:30 (5:30 if it wasn't for Daylight Savings *nod*) so I could finish reading Biology before Geometry class at 8:30.
When the alarm went off, I thought I hit "snooze" so I could sleep for another 15 minutes, but I guess, in my sleep-deprived state, I hit the wrong button, turning it totally off.  You can guess what happend. ^_^

Josiah came in and woke me up later saying, "you're going to be late for class!"  I look over at my clock and the first thing I saw was ':27'.  I literally fall out of bed, and, stumbling over pillows and clothes lying all over the floor, make my way to the edge of the room and down the stairs to the computer.  And I'm logging into class, scraping books and notes from last night into a pile when I see the clock and read the *whole* thing: 7:29.

And Zach was sitting at the other computer across from me cracking up...  Yeah, apparently I looked pretty retarded.

About Me

  • I'm an artsy-fartsy shopping weirdo, and I love hanging out with friends, whether it's going to the movies, shopping, or chatting in-between dance classes. I'm a big dance fanatic, and danced as a flower in the Nutcracker. An amazing experience! I'm planning on auditioning again next year! This year I also went out for Cross Country! I had never *seriously* run in my life before, and, although it's pretty hard at times, it surprised me how fun and rewarding running can be. :) The result of amazing coaches and awesome team-mates, as well as great support from family!
